We are pleased to invite you to “EMC Seminar in Irvine,” a seminar which will take place on Tuesday, November 16th from 10:00am to 3:00pm at Northwest EMC. The seminar is free to attend and lunch will be provided to participants.
We will be raffling away one iPod Shuffle, so please be sure to join us.
We are honored to have Ed Nakauchi with G & M Compliance as our guest speaker. He will be presenting “Testing for EMC Compliance : Mitigation Techniques." We also are fortunate to have Dr. Takashi Harada with NEC as our guest speaker. He will be presenting “Latest EMC Design Solution for PCB above GHz."
ABSTRACT:
"Testing for EMC Compliance : Mitigation Techniques"
Ed Nakauchi : G&M Compliance
This presentation will discuss techniques useful in performing EMI/EMC mitigation with some common solutions and implementation
methods. Conducted and radiated emissions will be discussed. Conducted and radiated immunity/susceptibility techniques will also be
discussed. Helpful methods to safely recreate immunity issues will be explored. A step-by-step procedure will be given.
"Latest EMC Design Solution for PCB above GHz"
Dr. Takashi Harada : NEC Corporation
EMC design above GHz is more complex and difficult because resonance occurs when the wavelength is equal to the size of PCB or
chassis and also the affect of stray capacitance and parasitic inductance increases. This lecture provides key EMC design tips for
PCB above GHz and also EBG (Electromagnetic Band Gap) structures to reduce noise coupling in PCB.
GUEST SPEAKERS:

Edward Nakauchi
EMI/EMC/EMP/ESD Consultant
G&M Compliance
Mr. Nakauchi has a BSEE and MSEE. He has over forty years experience beginning with analog, power, digital design and then, in the EMI/EMC/EMP and ESD areas. He has written numerous technical papers and magazine articles as well as presented seminars on EMI/EMC/EMP/ESD topics for many companies. Mr. Nakauchi was the primary author of a shielding design guideline for the Army and was an EMI consultant to the Air Force's Space and Missile Command on their COTS program. He has also worked on the CASSPER system that is an innovative correlation analyzer. Some of the projects that he has worked on include the Space Shuttle, Global Positioning Satellite, submarines, Tesla Motors and the B-2 Bomber. He is a NARTE Certified EMC/ESD Engineer with senior membership in the IEEE and is currently a consultant with G&M Compliance.
Dr. Takashi Harada
NEC Corporation
He received his M.E. degrees in electrical engineering from
Tokyo Metropolitan University, Tokyo, Japan in 1983. He received
his PhD. from The University of Electro-Communications in 2000.
He joined NEC Corporation in 1983 and has been engaged in research
on EMC (developing microwave wave absorber, anechoic chamber,
shielding material and board design tool for reducing EMI), and
Jisso (packaging) technologies.
Now, he is a Senior Manager of System Jisso Research Laboratories,
NEC Corporation. He is also a Guest Professor of Tokyo Institute of Technology.
He is a member of IEEE, IEICE (The Institute of Electronics, Information and
Communication Engineers Society). Japan Institute of Electronics Packaging.
